Patrick Hutchinson is a powerful and authentic voice in the movement for racial equality. A Co-Founder and Director of United to Change and Inspire, he is also the Director of pHKind, and holds ambassadorial roles with respected organisations such as The Open University, Hope Collective, Rio Ferdinand Foundation, and Payment Choice Alliance. His work is deeply rooted in lived experience: raised by a single Jamaican mother from the Windrush generation, and later a single father himself, Patrick understands first-hand the intersecting struggles of race, identity, and inequality. He channels these experiences into his advocacy, speaking passionately on topics such as allyship, fatherhood, youth empowerment, racial equity, and using one’s platform for change. His rise to prominence was sparked by a single image—him carrying an injured far-right protester to safety during a Black Lives Matter protest in 2020—a moment that symbolised humanity over division.
Patrick’s journey to becoming a respected speaker and activist is one marked by perseverance, responsibility, and transformation. With a career in IT spanning over two decades, he held roles including Senior Shift Analyst at BNP Paribas, Technical Operations Team Lead at Rabobank, Global Technical Operations Team Lead at Nomura Asset Management, and Technical Project Manager at Vnetrix. Alongside this, he trained rigorously in martial arts, particularly Muay Thai, a discipline that instilled in him immense mental resilience. His early passion for martial arts, shaped by Kung Fu films and Tae Kwon Do, has evolved into a lifelong practice, recently including Brazilian jiu-jitsu. His background as a coach and mentor to young athletes further illustrates his lifelong commitment to uplifting others.
Since 2020, Patrick has received widespread recognition for his humanitarian actions and ongoing advocacy. His accolades include the GQ Hero Award, GQ Humanitarian Award, CNN Heroes Award, and the London Chamber of Commerce Black Excellence Award. His powerful books, Everybody Versus Racism: A Letter to My Children and Everyone Versus Racism: A Letter to Change the World, encapsulates his journey and commitment to creating a fairer world. In addition to media features in Men’s Health and speaking invitations to the Houses of Parliament, he has used his platform to build lasting initiatives that prioritise justice, representation, and education.
Patrick is regularly hired because he speaks from lived truth with humility and conviction. His talks cover an inspiring range—from dismantling systemic racism and celebrating Black excellence to fostering unity and challenging unconscious bias. With his unique ability to connect across generations and backgrounds, he inspires audiences to become active participants in building a more equitable world. His lived example of courage and compassion in the face of division is exactly why organisations seek him out—not just to speak, but to galvanise change.
