Bas Rahman is a London-based stand-up comedian and comedy writer, whose work as a racial equality speaker is powerfully informed by her lived experiences as a British Muslim woman. Her unique blend of dark, cheeky humour and incisive social commentary allows her to unpack challenging topics such as Islamophobia, racism in the workplace, intersectionality, and cultural identity. Bas brings a refreshing authenticity to her talks, using her personal story to shine a light on the everyday nuances of racial inequality. Whether on stage, in a writers’ room, or speaking at a corporate event, she speaks candidly about the systems that marginalise communities and offers thoughtful, often humorous, perspectives on change.
Her career began not in comedy or advocacy but in customer service roles across well-known organisations such as Nike, Victoria’s Secret, and Camden Council, where she gained first-hand insight into the realities of being a woman of colour navigating predominantly white, corporate environments. Over time, Bas moved into more senior roles—Customer Service Manager at ICONIC LONDON and eCommerce & Account Manager at AgeChecked—before landing her current position at Workday. Throughout, her drive to amplify underrepresented voices and challenge discriminatory practices deepened, and she began to incorporate these themes into her comedy and public speaking. Her early professional experiences continue to inform the sharp, relatable lens through which she addresses racial bias and workplace inequality.
In recent years, Bas has gained increasing recognition for both her creative and advocacy work. In 2022, she qualified for Funny Women, a major UK platform championing female comedians. She was also invited as a guest on the Chai with Rai podcast in 2023, where she discussed identity, performance, and social justice. Her writing credentials include work with Mazwan Rizwan and Never Mind the Buzzcocks, and she is a former member of the prestigious BBC Writers Room. She is also a proud contributor to the ERA:5050 All-Female Writers Room, further underlining her commitment to inclusive storytelling.
Bas is frequently hired as a speaker for her ability to approach racial equality with humour, intelligence, and personal insight. She covers topics such as race and representation in the media, the experience of Muslim women in Britain, and racial microaggressions in professional settings. Her ability to connect with audiences—whether corporate or creative—makes her an in-demand voice on equity and inclusion. With a rare combination of lived experience, professional acumen, and creative flair, Bas is an essential speaker for organisations looking to foster honest, impactful conversations about race.
