Former World Champion hurdler, Colin Jackson, had a highly influential career as a top-performing British athlete. From Olympic medals to European Championships, Colin proved himself in every elite competition available, before retiring and transitioning to media work. Utilising his global platform to bring about change, Colin has been outspoken on the issue of racism in sport, and supported by his own experiences, expands on this as a speaker at events.

The hurdling legend was a star from the outset, having won Gold as a junior, he went on to dominate the European indoor and outdoor Championships, achieving three and four Golds respectively. Throughout his career, spending more than 15 years as a top-performing hurdler, Colin was equally prominent on the world stage. Winning medals in no less than five World Championships, including Gold in 1993 and 1999 and repeating such success at the World Indoor Championships, with one Gold and three Silver, Colin is internationally recognised for his achievements. One of his best-known success is the 110-meter hurdles world record which he set at 12.91 seconds and held for 13 years.

Upon retiring from professional sports, Colin remained in the spotlight, as a presenter for the BBC. Featuring on various series for the broadcaster, and as a pundit for the Olympics, Colin is widely recognised as the face of ‘BBC Raise Your Game’. Additional media work for Colin includes: The Making of Me, Sunday Life and Celebrity MasterChef. Colin has been extensively involved in charity support, responsible for founding the Red Shoes Academy, Go Dad Run and as an ambassador for Sport 4 Kids.

Awarded a CBE in 2003 for his service to athletics, Colin’s career hasn’t always been the smoothest of journey’s. Open about his experiences with racism, Colin initially aimed for a career in cricket before finding his achievements in a team were diminished due to his race, something that wasn’t possible in a discipline like hurdles. As a resilient and talented sportsman, Colin now inspires change in the industry and in his audiences as an event speaker.
