Jameela Jamil is a British actress, presenter, and activist known not only for her creative work but for her outspoken advocacy in social justice. Currently, she is best recognised as the host of the I Weigh podcast, a platform she founded to challenge cultural norms around worth, representation, and systemic inequality. Having grown up as a South Asian woman in the UK, Jameela’s lived experience of racism and exclusion from mainstream media and beauty standards profoundly fuels her passion for equality. Her speaking topics include racial and gender equity, representation in media, intersectionality, and dismantling harmful cultural narratives.

Jameela began her media career as a presenter on Channel 4’s T4 and quickly rose to prominence by becoming the first solo female host of BBC Radio 1’s The Official Chart in 2013. Her move to Los Angeles and subsequent casting as Tahani in NBC’s The Good Place launched her into international recognition. Despite having no prior acting experience, she used her platform not only to entertain but to speak candidly about discrimination in the industry. Facing racism both in the UK and the US, she became increasingly vocal about how people of colour are systematically erased or stereotyped in media.

In 2018, Jameela founded the global movement I Weigh, which evolved into a podcast and advocacy platform challenging societal definitions of value. It has highlighted voices from diverse racial backgrounds and called out institutions and brands that perpetuate racial inequity. She has been recognised with several honours, including the Phenom Award at the Shorty Awards and inclusion in British Vogue’s Forces for Change issue curated by Meghan Markle. In 2022, she portrayed Titania in Marvel’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, further expanding her reach and influence.

Jameela speaks powerfully on the importance of authentic representation and the need to dismantle systems that oppress marginalised communities. Her talks weave in her personal encounters with racism, both subtle and overt, and challenge organisations to confront their role in perpetuating inequality. Her commitment to intersectional feminism, racial justice, and media reform makes her a vital voice for change – and a compelling choice for events seeking an honest, empowering, and solutions-driven speaker on racial equality.
