Johannes Radebe

Johannes Radebe is a celebrated professional dancer, choreographer, and television personality, best known for his work as a Strictly Come Dancing professional on BBC One. Alongside his glittering career in entertainment, Johannes has emerged as a powerful racial equality speaker, using his platform to address issues of identity, representation, and inclusion. Motivated by his own experiences as a Black, openly gay man from South Africa, Johannes speaks passionately about overcoming adversity and the importance of visibility for marginalised communities. Born and raised in the township of Zamdela, Sasolburg, Johannes began dancing at the age of seven. In recent years, Johannes has continued to break boundaries. In 2019, he performed the show’s first same-sex routine, and in 2021, he partnered with John Whaite in the first same-sex male couple in the show’s history, finishing as runners-up. Beyond dance, he’s appeared on Celebrity MasterChef, won The Great British Sewing Bee Christmas Special, and made a special appearance in Doctor Who. In 2025, he takes on the role of Lola in the UK tour of Kinky Boots, marking his West End debut. These achievements highlight his versatility and growing influence as both an artist and an advocate.
