Johannes Radebe is a celebrated professional dancer, choreographer, and television personality, best known for his work as a Strictly Come Dancing professional on BBC One. Alongside his glittering career in entertainment, Johannes has emerged as a powerful racial equality speaker, using his platform to address issues of identity, representation, and inclusion. Motivated by his own experiences as a Black, openly gay man from South Africa, Johannes speaks passionately about overcoming adversity and the importance of visibility for marginalised communities. His talks often focus on themes such as race and LGBTQ+ equality, challenging stereotypes, and the role of the arts in social change.

Born and raised in the township of Zamdela, Sasolburg, Johannes began dancing at the age of seven. His natural talent and dedication led him to become a three-time South African Amateur Latin Champion and a two-time Professional South African Latin Champion. He later performed globally with the dance show Burn the Floor and spent several years dancing on cruise ships, gaining valuable international experience. In 2014, he gained national recognition on Strictly Come Dancing South Africa, and in 2018, he joined the cast of professionals on the UK’s Strictly Come Dancing, cementing his place in British television and opening doors to wider public influence.

In recent years, Johannes has continued to break boundaries. In 2019, he performed the show’s first same-sex routine, and in 2021, he partnered with John Whaite in the first same-sex male couple in the show’s history, finishing as runners-up. Beyond dance, he’s appeared on Celebrity MasterChef, won The Great British Sewing Bee Christmas Special, and made a special appearance in Doctor Who. In 2025, he takes on the role of Lola in the UK tour of Kinky Boots, marking his West End debut. These achievements highlight his versatility and growing influence as both an artist and an advocate.

As a speaker, Johannes is frequently hired to inspire audiences with his story of perseverance, transformation, and empowerment. His talks go beyond personal narrative, offering reflections on intersectionality, the value of inclusion in creative industries, and the power of authentic self-expression. Whether addressing corporate leaders, educators, or young people, Johannes brings warmth, charisma, and insight – making him a sought-after speaker for events focused on diversity, equity, and racial equality.
