Kimberley Wilson is a Chartered Psychologist, qualified nutritionist, and founder of Monumental Health, an innovative integrative health clinic. Also known to many as a finalist on The Great British Bake Off, Kimberley uses her public platform to raise awareness around mental health, racial inequality, and the importance of culturally competent healthcare. Her lived experience as a Black woman navigating predominantly white spaces in both the media and psychological professions fuels her passionate advocacy for racial equity. As a speaker, Kimberley covers a breadth of topics, including mental health and wellbeing, fitness and nutrition, healthcare, psychology and neuroscience, and the influence of media and journalism—always with an emphasis on inclusion and systemic change.
Kimberley’s professional path is grounded in a strong commitment to justice and mental health accessibility. She began her career as Community Affairs Manager at White & Case LLP before taking on the role of Operational Lead at HMP & YOI Holloway, where she led therapeutic programmes in one of Europe’s largest women’s prisons. Her clinical experience deepened through roles as Psychologist at The House Partnership and Lead Therapist for the North London Eating Disorders Group. In 2011, she became Chair of the Training Committee in Counselling Psychology at The British Psychological Society, helping shape the next generation of psychologists. She later joined the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust as a Governor and began lecturing at London Metropolitan University. Kimberley’s clinical, academic, and advocacy work intersect to form a career devoted to whole-body mental health care and equality.
Her recent achievements reflect her status as a trusted expert and media contributor. Kimberley is the author of two acclaimed books, How to Build a Healthy Brain (2020) and Unprocessed: What Your Diet is Doing to Your Brain (2023), both of which explore the links between diet, brain health, and mental wellbeing. She hosts the Stronger Minds podcast and co-hosted Made of Stronger Stuff on BBC Radio 4 with Dr Xand van Tulleken. Kimberley also presented the science segment on One Dish (BBC Radio 4) and is a regular mental health expert on ITV’s Lorraine and Channel 4’s documentaries and series. Her written work includes features for BBC Science Focus, Psychologies Magazine, PSYCHE, and The British Psychological Society.
Kimberley’s talks provide powerful insights into the psychological and physiological impact of systemic racism, the unequal distribution of health resources, and the importance of diverse representation in the media. She brings academic rigour to discussions on the gut-brain axis, emotional eating, trauma, and lifestyle-based mental health strategies. Her work bridges the gap between science and society, making complex ideas both accessible and relevant to diverse audiences. With a unique blend of clinical experience, media fluency, and personal authenticity, Kimberley is a compelling choice for organisations seeking to address racial equality, mental health, and wellbeing through evidence-based, intersectional approaches.
