Levi Roots is a Jamaican-British entrepreneur, musician, and television personality who rose to fame as the creator of the iconic Reggae Reggae Sauce. Born in Clarendon, Jamaica, Levi moved to the UK at the age of 11. Raised in Brixton, he embraced his roots and channelled his cultural heritage into an extraordinary career that blends creativity, resilience, and determination.

Levi first gained recognition in the music industry, performing alongside legends like James Brown and Maxi Priest. His music career reached a high point with a nomination for Best Reggae Act at the MOBO Awards in 1998. His artistic talent extended beyond music when, in 2007, he became a household name after appearing on BBC’s Dragons’ Den. Levi’s pitch for Reggae Reggae Sauce, a product inspired by his grandmother’s recipes, secured a £50,000 investment, propelling him into entrepreneurial stardom. Today, his sauce is stocked nationwide in major retailers such as Sainsbury’s and Tesco.

Levi’s influence spans various industries. He is a published author, with books like Levi Roots’ Reggae Reggae Cookbook and Caribbean Food Made Easy, which complemented his BBC2 television series of the same name. His charismatic personality has also made him a beloved television figure, with appearances on shows like Celebrity Mastermind and Death in Paradise. Beyond his professional ventures, Levi has served as Chair of St Pauls Carnival in Bristol and is a Patron of RIFT Social Enterprise, an organisation supporting people with convictions into self-employment.

Levi Roots is also a recipient of two honorary doctorates from the University of the West of England and the University of Westminster, recognising his cultural contributions and business achievements. As a keynote speaker, Levi inspires audiences by sharing his journey from humble beginnings to international success, particularly resonating with BAME communities.
