Meera Bhogal is a menopause educator, activist, and public speaker, renowned for her commitment to raising awareness about menopause and advocating for racial equality. As the founder of Meera’s Made from Scratch, she offers holistic wellness programmes that integrate nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle guidance. Her personal journey through perimenopause, marked by a decade of unrecognised symptoms, fuels her passion to educate others, especially within South Asian communities where menopause remains a taboo subject. Meera’s speaking topics encompass the intersection of menopause and race, workplace inclusivity, and dismantling cultural stigmas surrounding women’s health.
Meera’s early career began with the establishment of the Oak Lee Montessori School in 2010, reflecting her dedication to education and child development. Her transition into menopause advocacy was driven by her own experiences and a desire to fill the informational void she encountered. This led to the creation of the Don’t Pause for Menopause programme, an eight-week course designed to empower women with knowledge and practical tools to navigate menopause confidently.
Her efforts have garnered national recognition. Meera has been invited twice to Parliament by MP Caroline Harris to contribute to the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) inquiry on menopause. She is also a member of the Wellbeing of Women’s Health Collective, working to destigmatise menopause experiences among Black and Asian women. Additionally, Meera has collaborated with Holland & Barrett on the Every Menopause Matters campaign, aiming to address the ethnicity gap in menopause support.
In her speaking engagements, Meera delves into topics such as cultural perceptions of menopause, the importance of workplace policies that support menopausal women, and strategies to foster inclusive conversations around women’s health. Her unique blend of personal experience, professional expertise, and cultural insight makes her a compelling speaker who resonates with diverse audiences. Organisations seeking to promote racial equality and support women’s health initiatives will find Meera’s contributions invaluable in driving meaningful change.
