Naomi Sesay is a dynamic and inspiring advocate for racial equality, currently serving as Head of Creative Diversity at Channel 4. With over 25 years’ experience in television and media, Naomi’s lived experiences as a Black woman navigating the broadcasting industry have fuelled her passion for driving systemic change. She leverages these experiences to champion genuine diversity and inclusion both on and off screen. Naomi’s journey began in television, where she was a Presenter and Producer at MTV during the height of MTV Europe’s influence in the 1990s. She then became a Freelance Producer & Director for Granada and Channel 4, contributing to significant projects such as Big Brother. Her passion for social change soon steered her towards media-related social enterprise, founding initiatives like the Billionaire Ladies Club and later serving as Director of Global Infinity. Naomi’s transition into leadership roles within diversity and inclusion was marked by her work at Media Trust, where she held the positions of Head of Youth Media Engagement and later Head of Innovation & Diversity, laying the groundwork for her impactful contributions at Channel 4.
In recent years, Naomi’s achievements have been particularly notable. At Channel 4, she has not only served as On Screen Diversity Executive but has also acted as Interim Head of Diversity & Inclusion, shaping key strategies to boost representation across the network. Naomi has been a sought-after trainer for prestigious organisations including Google, Deloitte, YouTube, and the Cabinet Office through her role as a Senior Trainer at APS Intelligence. She is also a published author, with her book, The Human Upgrade offering insights into personal empowerment and transformation. Additionally, Naomi is the founder and CEO of Swiipe Wealth and is spearheading a ground-breaking project to build a sustainable Smart City in Matamp, Sierra Leone, focused on empowering marginalised communities.
