Nisha began her career in law, qualifying as a barrister in 1996 and dedicating twenty years to child protection cases on the Northern Circuit. Her work as a barrister was a testament to her passion for social justice and her dedication to protecting vulnerable individuals. In recognition of her contributions to society, she was appointed Ambassador for Diversity in Public Appointments by the UK Cabinet Office and a Trustee of National Museums Liverpool.

Driven by a desire to share her cultural heritage, Nisha transitioned from law to gastronomy, establishing Mowgli Street Food in Liverpool in 2014. The restaurant chain has since expanded to over 24 locations across the UK, reflecting her vision of making Indian food accessible and celebrated. Through the Mowgli Trust, she donates over £500,000 annually to local and global charities, exemplifying her commitment to giving back.

Her influence extends beyond the restaurant industry. In 2022, she was appointed the first alumna Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University, a role that highlights her leadership and dedication to education. She has authored six critically acclaimed cookbooks, including The Spice Tree and Meat-Free Mowgli, and is a prominent media personality with regular appearances on BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and Food Network.

Nisha’s achievements have earned her numerous accolades, including an MBE for services to the food industry in 2019. Her story of resilience and innovation resonates deeply with audiences, making her a sought-after keynote speaker on diversity, entrepreneurship, and cultural heritage.
