Dr. Nothabo Ncube, aka Dr. Thabo, is a Zimbabwean-born, Canada-based medical doctor and Founder, Coach, and Mentor of the Esther Foundation and Eranic. Her lived experiences—marked by loss, struggle, and resilience—fuel her passion for racial equality and social advocacy. Through her powerful storytelling, she inspires audiences to overcome adversity and embrace their purpose. Her speaking topics include ‘Turning Pain into Purpose, Turning Struggles into Strength’; ‘Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’; ‘Breaking the Conscious and Unconscious Biases’; ‘Mental Health Awareness and Healing’; ‘Girl Child, Women Empowerment’; and ‘UBUNTU: Harnessing the Power of I AM Because YOU ARE and Principles for Social Advocacy’.
Her journey began with a promise to her mother, made at her deathbed, to become a doctor. After moving to Canada, she faced significant challenges, including financial constraints and systemic barriers. Despite these hardships, she pursued her medical education and gained experience as a Lab Technician at Sanofi Pasteur and Project Event Coordinator at Women of Influencer Inc. She later founded the Esther Foundation, a mentorship programme empowering women and young girls. Her resilience and determination led her to prestigious platforms, including a TEDx talk titled An Inspirational Story of Hope, Faith, and Grace and an invitation to Oprah Winfrey’s Lifeclass on You Become What You Believe.
Nothabo’s impact has been recognised through numerous accolades. In 2023, she won gold in Women in Medicine and silver in Rising Star and Thought Leader of the Year at the Women Changing The World Awards. She was also named Top 4 Immigrant Women of Inspiration/Influencers in Canada in 2020 and Top 100 Black Women to Watch in Canada in 2017. Her nomination by RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards further highlight her influence.
Nothabo’s advocacy for racial equality is deeply rooted in her personal experiences. She challenges conscious and unconscious biases, promotes diversity and inclusion, and empowers marginalised communities. Her ability to connect with audiences through vulnerability and authenticity makes her a sought-after speaker.
