Piers Linney is one of the UK’s most successful businessmen who is best known for his role as an investor on Dragons’ Den. Over the years he’s held a whole host of high-profile roles in a number of esteemed organisations, making a name for himself in the tech and finance sectors. This includes being a Non-Executive Director of the British Business Bank, Owner and Co-CEO of Genesis Communications and Co-CEO of the award-winning IT business, Outsourcery. Previously named in the Top 100 BAME Leaders in Business Piers is regarded as one of the country’s most influential entrepreneurs and makes for the perfect BAME speaker for any event.
While popular among business circles, Piers really shot to fame when he joined Dragons’ Den in 2013 as a new investor. On the show, he provided his insight, advice and, most importantly, investment to the next generation of business stars. This included becoming an investor of the award-winning technology brand Wonderbly which publishes personalised children’s books. Over the years he’s been inundated with a whole host of prestigious awards including being named in the top 20 of the Financial Times list of Top 100 minority ethnic leaders in technology. While it certainly raised his profile, Dragons’ Den was not Piers’ first venture into TV as in 2011 he appeared on Secret Millionaire working at a young offenders’ institution.
Before making the move into business Piers trained as a solicitor and spent time working as an investment banker. Realising he wanted to be his own boss Piers opened up an internet business, his first venture into the technology sector. Now, he can be found inspiring new businesspeople across the country as a BAME speaker and through his latest endeavour the #StartUp and #ScaleUp initiatives. These schemes see Piers give advice on business progression and how to get started with self-help videos on his YouTube channel and website. When booked as a BAME speaker Piers regularly captivates audiences by combining his years of business excellence with discussions on hard-hitting issues such as social diversity and increasing diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
