Renee Hector is a passionate advocate for racial equality and inclusion, currently serving as Head Coach of Watford FC Women’s Team, the first in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division. Her lived experiences as a Black woman navigating the professional football landscape—first as a player, then as a coach—are central to her powerful voice as a racial equality speaker. Her unique insights make her an engaging and impactful presence at conferences and corporate events alike. Renee speaks on topics such as Diversity and Inclusion in Sports, Overcoming Adversity, Leadership and Team Dynamics, Mental Health and Wellbeing in Athletes, and Transitioning from Professional Sports to New Careers, always drawing on her real-life journey to inspire and inform.
Renee’s football career began early, making her professional debut with Watford FC at just 16. She went on to play for Tottenham Hotspur, where she played a key role in their promotion to the FA Women’s Super League in 2019, and later for Charlton Athletic and Watford again at senior level. Her coaching journey began while she was still a player, including a role as Programme Coordinator at Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. A serious ACL injury in 2020 ended her playing career but sparked a new path in coaching. Determined to remain in the game, Renee earned her UEFA B Licence while rehabilitating and quickly rose through the ranks at Watford FC as head coach.
Renee’s impact has been widely recognised. She was named on the prestigious Ugo Ehiogu ‘Ones to Watch’ Football Blacklist in 2019, a marker of her growing influence in the sport. In 2023, she was Highly Commended at the Women of the Future Awards, celebrating her leadership and mentoring efforts. That same year, she joined the England Elite Coach Programme, working with the England Women’s U17 squad, further cementing her status as a rising star in coaching. In November 2024, her progress was acknowledged when she was awarded Manager of the Month in the FA Women’s National League Premier Division.
As a speaker, Renee brings deep authenticity and clarity to discussions around racial equality, grounded in personal and professional resilience. She unpacks how systemic barriers affect athletes of colour, explores the mental toll of discrimination, and shares strategies for inclusive leadership and wellbeing. Whether addressing athletes, business leaders, or educational institutions, her focus on diversity and inclusion resonates powerfully. Renee is hired because she offers more than insight—she brings lived credibility, leadership in action, and a proven commitment to driving change through football and beyond.
